RoleTrellis Terms of Service

RoleTrellis is operated by Afia Attafuah, based in Alberta, Canada ("RoleTrellis," "we," "us," or "our").

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the RoleTrellis website, platform, and related services.

By creating an account, accessing RoleTrellis, or using its features, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old, legally capable of entering into a binding agreement, permitted to use RoleTrellis under applicable law, and not previously suspended or removed from RoleTrellis.

By using RoleTrellis, you represent that you meet these requirements.

You agree to provide accurate account information and to use the service only for lawful purposes.

RoleTrellis may refuse or restrict access where necessary to comply with legal, security, or eligibility requirements.

RoleTrellis is an AI-assisted career and job-search platform designed to help individuals manage and improve their job-application process.

Depending on your plan and available features, RoleTrellis may help you:

• Discover and save employment opportunities.
• Evaluate the relationship between a job's requirements and your career experience.
• Organize verified career information using Career Truth.
• Tailor resumes and cover letters.
• Draft application answers.
• Research employers and prepare for interviews.
• Review generated statements through Truth Check.
• Organize and track job applications and related activity.

Features may vary by subscription plan, usage limits, product availability, and ongoing development.

RoleTrellis does not automatically submit job applications on your behalf.

You decide which opportunities to pursue and which materials to use, edit, send, or submit.

RoleTrellis does not act as an employer, recruitment agency, or representative of any employer unless expressly stated otherwise.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (username, password, and any other login credentials used to access your account) and for activity occurring through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

You agree to:

• Provide accurate account and career information.
• Keep your account details reasonably current.
• Protect your passwords and authentication credentials.
• Notify RoleTrellis if you suspect unauthorized access.
• Use the service in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.

You must not impersonate another person or use another person's personal or professional information without appropriate authority.

We may require additional verification where reasonably necessary to protect an account or process sensitive requests.

5.1 Your content

You retain your rights in the resumes, career facts, work histories, application materials, and other content you provide to RoleTrellis.

By providing content, you grant RoleTrellis a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, reproduce, format, analyze, and process that content as reasonably necessary to:

• Provide the features you request.
• Maintain your private career workspace.
• Generate and review application materials.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the service.
• Perform backup and recovery functions.
• Meet applicable legal obligations.

This permission lasts only as necessary for those purposes, subject to the retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to provide the information you submit and that doing so does not unlawfully infringe the rights of another person.

5.2 Google Sign-In

You may choose to sign in to RoleTrellis using Google LLC ("Google"). If you do, you authorize us to receive and process your Google account name, email address, and profile picture, as permitted by the permissions you approve and as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may revoke RoleTrellis's access through your Google account settings. Revoking access does not itself delete your RoleTrellis account or information already stored in RoleTrellis. Account deletion and retention are described in our Privacy Policy.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5.3 RoleTrellis intellectual property

The RoleTrellis name, branding, software, interface, underlying technology, and original platform content belong to RoleTrellis or its licensors.

These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right to use the service in accordance with these Terms.

You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit RoleTrellis's proprietary platform or technology except as permitted by applicable law or with our written permission.

5.4 AI-generated materials

Subject to applicable law and third-party rights, you may use, edit, download, and submit the career materials generated for you through RoleTrellis. RoleTrellis does not claim ownership of the materials generated for you.

AI systems may generate similar content for different users. RoleTrellis does not guarantee that generated wording is unique or that it qualifies for intellectual-property protection.

RoleTrellis uses AI-powered features to analyze information and assist in preparing career materials.

AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, inconsistent, or unsuitable for a particular employer or application.

Although Career Truth and Truth Check are designed to support evidence-based statements, they cannot guarantee that every generated claim is correct.

You are responsible for reviewing and confirming all material information before using it, including:

• Education and qualifications.
• Employment history and dates.
• Professional experience and accomplishments.
• Skills and certifications.
• Compensation expectations.
• Work authorization or eligibility.
• Statements submitted to an employer or recruiter.

You must not knowingly use RoleTrellis to create, present, or submit materially false or fraudulent information.

RoleTrellis provides career-assistance technology, not a guarantee of professional advice, employment, hiring decisions, or other outcomes.

RoleTrellis may display, analyze, or link to job postings, employer websites, applicant tracking systems, job boards, and other publicly accessible or third-party information.

We do not control these external services.

We do not guarantee that a job posting is:

• Current or still available.
• Accurate or complete.
• Genuine or free from fraud.
• Suitable for your qualifications or circumstances.
• Associated with an employer that will respond to your application.

References to employers, job boards, products, or third-party services do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or partnership unless expressly stated.

Your interactions with employers and third-party websites are governed by their applicable terms and policies.

RoleTrellis does not guarantee interviews, job offers, employment, compensation, or hiring outcomes.

RoleTrellis currently offers a Free plan and paid RoleTrellis Essential and RoleTrellis Pro plans.

The current prices, features, monthly usage allowances, and applicable restrictions are displayed in the service or at checkout.

Some features may be subject to:

• Monthly AI usage allowances.
• Feature-specific generation limits.
• Availability restrictions.
• Fair-use, security, or technical limits.

Usage limits may reset according to the applicable plan's billing or usage cycle, as described within RoleTrellis.

Unused allowances do not automatically roll over unless expressly stated.

We may adjust features, usage limits, and plan offerings over time, subject to applicable law and any required notice.

Changing Subscription Plans

Users may change between available subscription plans through RoleTrellis, subject to the options presented in their account. Upgrades may result in prorated charges, while downgrades may take effect at the next billing renewal. Any applicable charges, changes in access, and effective dates will be presented before confirmation.

9.1 Paid subscriptions

Essential and Pro are recurring monthly subscription plans billed in U.S. dollars (USD) through Stripe Payments Canada, Ltd. (“Stripe”).

By purchasing a paid plan, you authorize the recurring charges disclosed during checkout until the subscription is cancelled or otherwise ends.

Taxes may apply depending on your location and the applicable legal requirements.

You are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method.

9.2 Automatic renewal

Unless cancelled, paid subscriptions ordinarily renew at the end of each monthly billing period.

Stripe processes payments on behalf of RoleTrellis. Additional Stripe terms may apply to payment-related services.

9.3 Payment failures

A declined payment, charge reversal, dispute, or other billing issue may result in the restriction, suspension, or termination of paid-plan access.

Where applicable, your account may revert to the Free plan after paid access ends.

9.4 Changes to subscription pricing

RoleTrellis may change subscription prices from time to time.

For price increases affecting an existing recurring subscription, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice, or any longer period required by applicable law, before the increase takes effect.

Where required by law, we will obtain any necessary consent or provide an appropriate cancellation opportunity.

If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before the increase takes effect.

You may manage or cancel an active paid subscription through Settings → Billing & Plan and the Stripe customer portal.

When you cancel a subscription through the normal billing process, cancellation ordinarily takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

Paid access generally continues until that period ends, and the subscription will not renew afterward.

Unless required by applicable law or expressly offered by RoleTrellis, subscription payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds or credits for unused portions of a billing period.

Account deletion is different from normal subscription cancellation

If you choose to permanently delete your RoleTrellis account, the deletion process is designed to cancel active subscriptions immediately.

Paid access may end immediately upon initiating account deletion, even if time remains in your current billing period.

Account deletion does not automatically generate a refund, except where required by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits statutory refund, cancellation, or consumer-protection rights that cannot legally be waived.

You agree not to misuse RoleTrellis.

You must not:

• Use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activities.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent professional qualifications.
• Knowingly create or submit false or materially misleading employment information.
• Upload malicious software or interfere with the platform's operation.
• Attempt to bypass authentication, subscription limits, access controls, or security measures.
• Access another user's information without authorization.
• Engage in abusive scraping, automated extraction, or activities that overload the service.
• Use the service to infringe another person's intellectual-property, privacy, or other legal rights.
• Resell access to RoleTrellis or exploit the platform commercially without authorization.

We may take reasonable action to prevent misuse, including restricting access or suspending accounts.

RoleTrellis is an evolving service.

We may add, modify, limit, replace, or discontinue features for technical, operational, security, business, or legal reasons.

We aim to provide a reliable experience, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Maintenance, outages, network disruptions, third-party provider incidents, and other circumstances may temporarily affect availability.

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice of significant changes that materially affect paid services.

We may temporarily restrict or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to:

• Address suspected security incidents.
• Prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized activity.
• Enforce material violations of these Terms.
• Comply with applicable legal requirements.
• Protect users, third parties, or the service.

For material or repeated violations, we may terminate an account, subject to applicable law.

You may stop using RoleTrellis at any time.

You may initiate account deletion through Settings → Account → Delete account or contact support@roletrellis.com.

Permanent account deletion is intended to remove your account and associated private workspace information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, subject to applicable retention obligations and technical limitations.

Once deletion is completed, your account and its associated workspace may not be recoverable.

Discontinuation of RoleTrellis

If we decide to permanently discontinue RoleTrellis, we will provide commercially reasonable advance notice where practicable.

Where paid services are permanently discontinued before the end of a prepaid period, we will provide any refund or other remedy required by applicable law and, where appropriate, a prorated refund for the unused portion of the prepaid period.

We will address retained information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.

Our collection, use, sharing, and retention of personal information are described in the RoleTrellis Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy also explains:

• AI processing and model-training practices.
• Cookies and analytics.
• International processing and service providers.
• Account deletion and backup retention.
• Privacy access and correction requests.

You are encouraged to review the Privacy Policy before uploading sensitive career information.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RoleTrellis is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not make guarantees regarding:

• The accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated materials.
• The availability, legitimacy, or accuracy of job postings.
• Employer responses or hiring decisions.
• Job interviews, offers, compensation, or employment outcomes.
• Continuous or error-free access to the service.
• The uninterrupted operation of third-party services.

Your use of generated career materials and employment-related information involves your own judgment and responsibility.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, protections, or other rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, RoleTrellis and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from use of the service, including lost employment opportunities, lost profits, missed hiring outcomes, or reliance on inaccurate generated or third-party information.

Subject to liabilities and remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited, the total aggregate liability of RoleTrellis and its operator for claims relating to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

• The amount paid by the user to RoleTrellis during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; and
• US$100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for matters that cannot lawfully be limited, including any applicable non-waivable consumer-protection rights.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may be responsible for reasonable losses, claims, and costs directly arising from your unlawful misuse of RoleTrellis, intentional fraud, or material violation of these Terms.

This provision does not require you to assume responsibility for losses caused by RoleTrellis's own unlawful conduct, negligence where liability cannot be excluded, or matters otherwise protected by applicable law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply to you.

If you have a concern or dispute, please contact support@roletrellis.com so we can review the matter and work with you toward a fair resolution. If it remains unresolved, you and RoleTrellis may agree to mediation with an independent mediator.

Disputes may be brought before a court of competent jurisdiction in Alberta, subject to any right under applicable law to bring a claim elsewhere. Informal discussions and mediation are voluntary and do not restrict access to the courts or extend legal deadlines.

Nothing in these Terms limits or waives any consumer rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in RoleTrellis, its services, business practices, or applicable law.

We will publish updated Terms with a revised effective date.

Where changes materially affect your rights or paid subscription, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.

Your continued use of RoleTrellis after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you may discontinue using the service and cancel your subscription.

If a court or arbitrator determines that any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

Our failure to enforce a provision immediately does not necessarily waive our right to enforce it later.

These Terms, together with the policies and applicable plan terms referenced in them, constitute the agreement governing your use of RoleTrellis, subject to applicable law.

We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, to a corporation we form or to a successor in connection with a reorganization, merger, sale, or similar transaction. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent.
